Last photo for the day of the amazing wall outside @tymguitars that keeps on getting guitars put in front of it…This Greco GO II, is making its way into the shop on consignment soon, and I had the pleasure of giving it a quick once over. This neck through, hard tail model, is bananas! It plays like it left the factory only days ago (hey, some guitars play well right from the factory…). So damn new it was scary to work on! 2017 U.S.A Fender Stratocaster, straight from the showroom to the workbench for a little tweaking. This is the 3rd Strat that I’ve borrowed from Tim @tymguitars (from his personal collection) in as many weeks, and hands down this is the pick of the bunch. In fact I’m going to go as far as to say, and this is a big one - that it’s the best Strat I’ve ever played. I wish I could tell you a bit more about it, but I’ve got a feeling it may be a collection of Fender parts build (Tim?). The neck is super slim with a wide fretboard, and the body is crazy light! The electronics including the pickups appear to be of Japanese origin and they sound bloody wonderful actually (I could be wrong about the origins, but they do sound so so good). Both body and neck are super worn and showing some real age, the finish on the fretboard has actually chipped off in big chunks, and there’s a fair amount of finish checking and crazing on the body. Honestly there’s more I could ramble on about but really, none of the minor details matter when you have something so incredibly inspiring and enjoyable to go play on! 1983 USA E Serial Stratocaster. This came in today for a quick work over, nothing major and I gotta say, it was a great player! The E serial guitars are more commonly associated with the MIJ builds of the same era, and sometimes the 80’s U.S strats get a bit of a hard time…this one was excellent, and the neck profile felt oh so good. It’s my day off but I think it’s high time that I finished this build. This one was started around the same time as the other mahogany body that ended up being the tripleninety. I was just REALLY picky about the Tru Oil finish and had a few setbacks/runs that I wasn’t happy with…it’s now been on the shelf for long enough. I’m going to limit myself to one last coat, after roughing it up just enough to get a good adhesion.
