Bootstang - The Saga Continues.
Hey gang, hope everyone is doing well out there. I’ve just finished chiseling out the cavity for the electronics/control plate. I’m going to go be going with a pretty simple system a three way toggle, one volume and one tone control. While I do somewhat prefer to be able to set each pickups volume and tone individually for quick tonal switching, I feel like it’s also nice to keep things simple. I may however regret this… In a bid to keep it a little less than standard I’m also thinking of including a kill switch somewhere in there.
Some issues are starting to become apparent however with the whole, hand tooling build. One thing I completely neglected to consider was the small channels usually drilled between the control plate and the bridge for grounding, also the same wiring hole might need to be made from bridge pickup to control cavity. I could simply chisel a channel from Bridge Pup to control plate and cover it with a pickguard but I’m not sold on that just yet… And there will still be the issue of grounding the bridge.
In other news, I have ordered my Bridge, I’ve gone with a Mustang style vibrato tailpiece ( I just can;t bring myself to call it a tremolo) and will be using a standard roller bridge. It’s a simple design, I enjoy the feel of them so, now I wait for the mail to arrive. I won’t really be able to do much work until it gets here so in the meantime I’m going to start cleaning up all the cavities and start work on the final sanding of the raw timber before coating it with sanding sealer.
Until next time y'all,
Later!
