Another BOOTSTANG UPDATE

Hey gang, yeah two in one day, must be the vitamins I’m taking whiskey.

I remember I mentioned something about perhaps attempting a German Carve on this build, I then remembered I’m not ready to lose all my hair just yet so I put that to rest and went with something a little more mellow.

What started out as simply adding a strat style arm rest, turned into something a little more interesting. I’ve been looking at a lot of Mosrites, Rickenbackers, and obscure Italian guitar builds for inspiration lately, so I guess this is how my brain has processed it all. The effect was simply achieved by carving out the angle of the contour, then using a file gently to create a solid separation between the high and low points, and sanding. I feel like it might be a nice opportunity to use it as a point of contrast in the finish?

The last photo just prior to starting to carve out the cavities for the pickups. Again a slight deviation from the original design, I will be using two P-90’s in this guitar. I’ve been toying with inserting one of the pickups on an angle, again such as a Mosrite, but I’m not convinced the string spacing Vs. Pole positions won’t perhaps be a little bit of a problem.
