BOOTSTANG UPDATE.
So I’ve been a little bit under the weather since promising to post more regular updates, I know excuses, excuses… Last time we left off I think I was having a mild anxiety attack regarding the neck pocket. Just a quick heads up for those just tuning in, I’ve never tried to do something like this without power tools or a template and decided the best way to go about it would be a chisel, mallet and a file. Sound okay right?
Well, this is the result of a lot of very delicate manoeuvres. The neck pocket was measured to fit a classic vibe squire neck - that’s not the neck that will be going, just a good starting point in this instance. There is roughly 23mm of heel behind the neck, plenty strong enough to handle the tension with four screws.
As you can probably see, there are few little spots that need some tidying up, but as it stands right now, the neck fits snuggly, with what I feel like is enough room to move for the additional increase once the finish is applied.
I think…
More updates pretty soon on this one.
