ARCHIVE BUILDS - ROADKILL #2

So after building my “Roadkill’ model it seemed it was turning into my thing having to make the most of a bad situation. I had picked up a couple of cigar boxes with some seriously gaudy looking label designs, The Balmoral cigar box that you see before you was once a faux marble, crimson red labelled box that I just felt too embarrassed to sell, or live with. Just a quick side note, it’s the same brand and box I used for the Copper Top Build a long time ago.

So why did I buy more of these boxes if I already knew I hated the look? The honest truth is, they are one of the best sounding boxes I have ever used. They have a slightly elongated design and are rather deep for a cigar box and without a word of a lie, this was in fact my favourite sounding build of 2013.

The neck was made from Silky Oak that lit up like a christmas tree when the light hit it, the grain and pattern was just amazing, and the wood itself was as light as a feather. Another Ebony nut and bridge combo, this time with an old Bass pickup I had lying around from some el cheapo Bass I had pulled apart for fun some time earlier. I’ve really got to do some digging around to find some audio files from this one because it just sounded, perfect. I can’t think of all the fancy descriptive words I should be using because I’m only one coffee in for the day but, when it came to the crunch and someone wanted to buy it, I just felt like upping the price until it was too unreasonable.
