Fender Jaguar Special neck Made in Japan ‘94-’95. From the HH Special Jaguar w/vintage 7.25 fretboard radius.
For my Jaguar rebuild still in progress, I needed a new neck, and after 5 minutes at Tyms Guitars in Fortitude Valley, Brisbane, I spotted this lovely MIJ neck, hiding away in a cabinet. A quick check indicated that the truss rod was fully functional and the neck wasn’t warped in any way, but hey you need a challenge somewhere right? Check out that fret in the 3rd picture!
That’s the first fret, and this sort of thing continues up and down the neck. The only thing I can think that’s caused it, is a capo being left on for years, holding the strings down, working their way into the nickel. I could be totally wrong, but that’s what I’m going with.
So, while some of the frets are in much better condition, I may as well pull them all and refret the whole neck. It would need to be done in a year or two anyway, so while I’m feeling adventurous, lets get it done.
Seriously, that fret, dude what!
